The Town of Dudley welcomes Interim Library Director Cheryl Hansen

Our new Interim Library Director brings to the Pearle L. Crawford Memorial Library more than 30 years of experience. Most recently, she was the Charlton Public Library Director for 15 years before retiring in 2021.

Hansen temporarily places her retirement on hold to help lead the Pearle during a time of transition as the Library Trustees seek to hire new, permanent leadership.

“At the time I retired, I loved my job but was ready for a break,” Hansen said. “I have thoroughly enjoyed two years of retirement. I always had it in the back of my mind that if an interim or consulting position became available in my geographic area I might be interested.”

After following closely with concern for the budget uncertainties faced by the town and its library last summer, she decided to apply for the Interim Director position.

“After meeting with the Board of Library Trustees and interview committee, I got excited about the chance to make a difference to this library, the staff, and the community while the search for a permanent director ensues,” Hansen said, adding, “The Town of Dudley is so lucky to have this absolutely beautiful library building and such a fantastic library staff. I hope that a combination of my experience and great enthusiasm for libraries will make a positive change in the community as well as make the transition to a permanent Director a little bit easier for everyone.”
