Press Release: Dudley TA response to override election results

At a special ballot election on April 25, Dudley voters soundly rejected a proposed plan to address the tough economic challenges facing our town with a single vote. Out of the 2,962 votes cast, 701 were in favor of the proposed five-year financial plan and 2,261 people were opposed. The message was loud and clear.
While the response was a decisive “no,” I don’t see it as our community collectively ignoring the financial challenges that must be addressed, but rather a message that they want more options and a higher degree of control over the difficult decisions that must be made as a community. With the April 25 voter mandate in mind, we will go back to the drawing board with this clear directive and provide voters with opportunity and options to decide the level of municipal and educational services they will support and expect
