Press Release: Dudley Police Promotions

The Dudley Board of Selectmen on February 6, 2023 approved rank promotions within the Police Department.
Officer Keith Remillard was promoted to sergeant. Remillard was hired as a Reserve Officer in 2011 and was promoted to fulltime in 2015. He is a 6-year member of the Southern Worcester County Crime and Drug Task Force. He grew up in Dudley and volunteers in many town-sponsored sports. He holds an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Anna Maria College and is presently working towards his Bachelor’s Degree.
Officer Chandler Boyd was promoted to acting sergeant. Boyd, a Dudley native, was hired as a Reserve Officer in 1998 and was promoted to full-time in 2002. He has been the department's firearms licensing officer for nearly 20 years and the Department Firearm Qualification Officer for more than 10 years. He was a member of the regional SWAT team earlier in his career. Boyd has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Curry College.
Sgt. James Annese was promoted to acting lieutenant. Annese was hired as a Reserve Officer in 1995, he was promoted to full-time in 2002, and promoted to sergeant in 2022. He was a Detective for nearly 2 years and a School Resource Officer for more than 5 years. Annese has Master’s Degree in Counterterrorism from Nichols College. He grew up in the Webster/Dudley area.
The “acting” promotions are to satisfy a stipulation in the employment contract of Chief Karlowicz that allows him to step down from Chief and resume Lieutenant rank position during his probation period.
