Dudley Police Department
Press Release
October 16, 2023

On Thursday, September 28, 2023, Sgt. Keith Remillard responded to 2 Jean Street to assist Oxford Animal Control Officer Kelly Flynn with a possible animal cruelty case.  ACO Flynn reported that she was asked to remove several cats that were signed over by a tenant that was evicted.

Sgt. Remillard along with ACO Flynn, Oxford Assistant ACO Ed Hart, Webster ACO Desiree Roussin, and Charlton ACO Emily Sears, located 35 cats that appeared to be in distress.  Due to the deplorable condition of the apartment, officers had to use personal protective equipment including respiratory masks.  Some of the cats appeared to be suffering from respiratory issues as they were wheezing, coughing, and showed labored breathing.  Many cats appeared to have eye infections, with some of the cats missing one or both of their eyes.  The cats were transported by ACO Flynn to MSPCA of Boston and Second Chance Shelter of Brookfield.

Based on the investigation, Sgt. Remillard requested a criminal complaint against the owner of the animals.  He was identified as Mr. Kenneth Gebo of Dudley. On Friday, October 13, Mr. Gebo was arraigned at Dudley District Court for 35 counts of animal cruelty charges.

I want to thank all the area Animal Control Officers for their help in this investigation.  Attached are some of the pictures from the investigation.
