DUDLEY POLICE DEPARTMENT 
PRESS RELEASE
FEBRUARY 9TH, 2023

 

At approximately 11:45 am today, Dudley Police was dispatched to the area of Chase Ave for a report of a disturbance.  Prior to officers’ arrival, dispatch advised officers that a male party involved had left the area with a black gun, that the caller described as a training gun.  Officers spotted the vehicle on Village St. and attempted to stop the vehicle.  The vehicle failed to stop for the police cruisers and began a pursuit. 
 
            After a short pursuit the vehicle went back to the area of Chase Ave where a male party exited the vehicle and began shooting the firearm in the air.  Officers retreated and established a perimeter.  Officers from Webster Police, Oxford Police, Douglas Police, and the Massachusetts State Police responded to assist Dudley Police.  Officers from the Webster Police Department were able to establish communication between the male party. After approximately 30 minutes of negotiating, the officers were able to have the male party put his weapon down on the ground and he surrendered himself.  This all occurred in the roadway of Chase Ave. 
 
            The male party was transported to the Dudley Police Department where he was booked and charged with the following:
 
FIREARM WITHOUT A LICENSE, CARRY
DISCHARGE A FIREARM WITHIN 500 FEET OF BUILDING
ASSAULT W/DANGEROUS WEAPON
THREAT TO COMMIT CRIME
DISTURBING THE PEACE
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
ASSAULT ON FAMILY/HOUSEHOLD MEMBER
SPEEDING RATE OF SPEED GREATER THAN WAS REASONABLE AND PROPER  c90 §17
MARKED LANES VIOLATION
STOP/YIELD, FAIL TO
STOP/YIELD, FAIL TO
RECKLESS OPERATION OF MOTO
 
A black 9mm self-loading pas pistol (Beretta replica), along with four 9mm shell casings (blanks) were
located on scene.
 
The male party is currently being held at Dudley Police.  Due to a domestic violence mandate, under Chapter 41, Section 97D, the police department is limited on what information can be made public.
