The Dudley Historical Commission shall identify and preserve the historical heritage and the resources of the town of Dudley. To accomplish this mission, the Commission shall provide, but not be limited to, the following:


§        Compile and maintain an inventory of the town’s historical assets.


§        Research and disseminate information on historic events, activities, artifacts, documents and structures important to the past, present and future of the town.


§        Encourage activities to educate and to broaden community awareness of Dudley’s historical heritage.


§        Collaborate with public and private groups to promote preservation.


§        Prepare and distribute preservation publications.


§        Promote the establishment of local historic districts.


§        Provide leadership to town committees to become involved in the preservation of historical assets.


§        Assist in genealogical research.


§        Protect important sites and views that exemplify the town’s historic past.


§        Implement all the powers, rules, goals and regulations as set forth by M.G.L. Chapter 40, Section 8D (State statute empowering the local historical commissions), and local Bylaws.
